Anna Maria Island
Well i really stirred up an hornets nest with my last comment regarding one city for the Island with a number of residents not wanting any change, but what they fail to realize is that the Island has changed for ever from tacky wooden homes to million dollar properties. When i first went to Anna Maria, in the fall you could lie down on Gulf Drive the main road through the island and be quite safe but now you would soon be a very flat pancake. Yes, the island has been found especially with vacationers and people find the existing 3 city names confusing - all they know is they want to come to Anna Maria Island, not where the hell is Holmes Beach or Bradenton Beach.

Anna Maria Island
Well I trust you all have recovered from the Christmas festivities the Island is a great place to spend Christmas with everybody enjoying themselves, there is nothing better than strolling along the beach listening to the waves lapping onto the shore and watching spectacular sunsets. Mornings waking up in the lovely villa Rosa to a stunning sunrise and fish jumping in the calm bay waters occasionally seeing a Dolphin leaping out of the waters now that’s a Christmas to remember.

Happy new year to everyone

Villa Rosa is available for rental on www.annamaria.com or 941 778 4178

Anna Maria Island
For those of you who know the Island you will be aware that it is made up of three cities Anna Maria, Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach, yes three cities for one little Island just seven miles long. All with different rules and regulations and the bods in charge all clinging to there little bit of power. At last there is talk of consolidation but at the end of the day that is all that will happen, would it not be sensible for one Anna Maria Island city?.

Anna Maria Island

Young Jacob Talucci has had a great year. Uncle Nate picks him up while splashing around in the pool and propels him into the air and propelled him into the top spot in the Islander photo contest. Aunty Amy was on hand to snap the photo she also presented young Jacob with a baby brother recently. I question however why uncle Nate had time to be in the pool as he should be helping to complete 4 beautiful brand new houses for Anna Maria Vacations

Want to feel a little festive? On Saturday, Dec. 10 it's party time for all the kids and the young at heart, from 10 a.m. to noon the Privateer's holiday parade starts in Bayfront Park, Anna Maria and meanders down through Anna Maria Island to Coquina Beach. Kids can visit with Santa and islanders are providing refreshments at Coquina Beach.

After the parade swing by the Anna Maria Island Art League's "Winterfest" craft festival to pick up some stocking stuffers or grab some tickets for the Sarasota POPS Orchestra "Chanukah and Christmas Concert" with the Bradenton Ballet Repertory and the Rowlett Elementary Choral Groups at Neel Performing Arts Center in nearby mainland Bradenton.

Finish up your day by watching The Islander Lighted Boat Parade beginning at 5:30 in the evening from Bimini Bay on the bay side of the island with judging at the Anna Maria City Pier. What a show!

Islanders are getting ready for the Christmas season down here on Anna Maria Island - walked around the island's streets last night and all the islanders are really getting into the festive spirit - Christmas trees and festive lights on the houses and in the yards. Why don't you just forget the cold and damp and come on down to join us for some warmth and some real Southern Hospitality!

Hey you fishing guys you should have seen the Grouper that Mike Schafer and Grant Vero caught 35 miles offshore some really fast fishing was experienced. As for myself I am not the greatest fisherman but I do hold the title of Cat Fish King the slimy non eatable type of fish. They tell me that fishing is good at the moment but then it always is and if its not then we all go to the pub.

The Anna Maria Island Power Squadron is holding its Boat Smart class on Mondays, Dec. 5 and 12, from 6 to 9 p.m. at 1200 71st St. N.W., Bradenton.

Boat Smart provides an overview of various aspects of boating safety including Florida boating laws, weather, types of boats, rules of the road, boat handling and distress signals. Its worth the $10 they are charging just to find out endless boating laws they keep coming up with.

Visted the Beach Bistro - the food is divine and the company more so. If you visit Anna Maria Island you must visit this place at least once! Staying in a really cute place called Villa Francesca. Love to you all back home in the Big Apple- bet you are jealous of me down here in Florida lazing around on the beach.
